Normalisation of Relations with Israel - Qaradawi
Dr Yusuf
al-Qaradawi, in his capacity as the chairperson of al-Quds
International Foundation has sent a note to the two day
Arab Summit starting today in Riyad, Saudi Arabia urging
delegate not to take any decision or actions to accept
normalisation of relations with Israel as long as Israel
does not withdraw from occupied territories and agree to
the establishment of a Palestinian state. Qaradawi
highlighted the position of some delegates who were
inclined to normalisation and those against it.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 5th Quds Conference held
in Algeria to coincide with the Arab Summit and attended by
Islamic and Christian personalities, Qaradawi added:
"We reject any normalisation with Israel except and only
when the Palestinian state is established and only then
would it be possible to think of normalisation"

Rice's Tour
Ineffective - Hamas
Hamas regards
the meetings held by Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and
her tour to the Middle East as merely to achieve her own
agenda for the region: to pave the way for the
legitimisation of future expansion and as a smoke screen
for the continuing and increasingly disastrous situation in
Iraq according to a spokesman for Hamas, Fauzi Barhuum.
"Hamas has followed the announcements of Secretary Rice
which merely demonstrates the ineffectiveness of these
meetings which has failed to present any steps towards
returning stability and peace in the region"
Barhum also expressed Hamas' unease with Rice's latest
statements stating that the Makkah agreement and the
formation of the national unity government as a stumbling
block for the establishment of an independent Palestinian
state and as damaging to the peace process in the Middle
East
