Thaqafah, an Arabic
word that can be translated as education, culture and
refinement covers not just Islamic sciences but language,
science and technology, humanities as well as current
issues.
Dr Yusuf Qaradawi sets out a comprehensive program to build
a well informed activist in a 1978 book "Thaqafah
ad-Dai'yah" encompassing Islamic sciences, humanities and
most refreshingly a grasp of current issues and world
affairs. One cannot but envisage a Muslim activist equipped
with anything other than a sharp well informed intellect
not stuck in a rigid interpretation of traditional Islamic
sciences nor one unfettered by the latest fad and theories.
